CRY8020 Series SonoCam Pocket Acoustic Camera Officially Launches

Table of Contents

The CRY8020 Series SonoCam Pocket Acoustic Camera has officially launched. Designed by CRYSOUND for daily walkdowns, SonoCam Pocket brings acoustic imaging, leak detection, and partial discharge screening into a lighter field workflow, helping inspection teams locate abnormal sound sources faster and support follow-up decisions with visual evidence.

The goal is simple: make acoustic imaging easier to carry, easier to use, and easier to apply in everyday maintenance. With smartphone-like touch operation, users can quickly view real-time sound source images, capture signs of compressed air, gas, and vacuum leaks, and perform preliminary screening for potential partial discharge in electrical equipment. Invisible sound becomes clear visual evidence for recording, sharing, and reporting. Before its official launch, this pocket acoustic imaging camera gained support from users in 30 countries and regions on Kickstarter, where 107 backers pledged $93,481, giving CRYSOUND's vision for everyday acoustic inspection a strong early vote of confidence.

Pocket Acoustic Imaging Built for Daily Walkdowns

Many issues in industrial environments are found during routine walkdowns rather than scheduled testing. For frontline teams, a practical acoustic imaging camera should not only detect abnormal sound, but also be light, intuitive, and ready to use whenever a problem appears.

SonoCam Pocket weighs only 270 g, making it easy for maintenance teams, energy managers, and field engineers to carry during daily walkdowns. It requires no complex setup. Users can operate it much like a smartphone: point at the target, view the result on the touch screen, take photos or record videos, and save visual evidence on site.

After inspection, data can be synced to a phone and shared quickly by email. With an IP54 rating and a 1.5 m drop-test design, SonoCam Pocket is built not only to be portable, but also to fit the frequent movement, quick checks, and immediate communication required in real industrial environments.

See Sound Sources in Real Time

The core value of SonoCam Pocket is turning invisible sound into a clear visual image. With a 64-channel MEMS digital microphone array, it overlays the sound source location onto the live visual image, so users no longer have to rely only on listening experience or repeated trial and error.

The device covers a 2 kHz-65 kHz frequency range, supporting both audible and ultrasonic detection for leaks, abnormal noise, and partial discharge signatures. With a wide 66° (H) × 52° (V) field of view, it helps users cover more of the inspection scene at a glance, making it easier to scan equipment, pipelines, and electrical assets without constantly repositioning the device.

For first-time acoustic imaging users, auto frequency selection helps reduce setup effort and speeds up the inspection process. For experienced users, the device still provides the flexibility needed to evaluate different field conditions. With ultrasonic listening, SonoCam Pocket helps users not only see sound, but also better understand the characteristics of an abnormal source.

    Practical Applications for Everyday Maintenance

SonoCam Pocket is designed for high-frequency problems in daily inspection, fast troubleshooting, and field repair. It can overlay invisible sound sources such as leaks, partial discharge, and abnormal noise onto the live visual image, helping users confirm the problem location faster and keep visual evidence for communication and reporting.

For compressed air, gas, and vacuum leak detection, SonoCam Pocket helps users quickly locate leaks around joints, valves, pipelines, manifolds, and pneumatic equipment, reducing energy waste and speeding up maintenance response.

For partial discharge screening, it captures ultrasonic signatures from PD activity and displays the suspected discharge location on the real-time image, supporting preliminary checks of switchgear, busbars, insulators, terminals, and high-voltage connection points.

For abnormal noise location, it can be used in vehicles, components, and repair scenarios where the issue is audible but difficult to pinpoint, helping technicians isolate the exact source faster and reduce repeat repairs.

For HVAC maintenance, SonoCam Pocket helps track down airflow noise, leaking ducts, failing dampers, and other hard-to-isolate sound sources, reducing repeated listening checks and unnecessary disassembly.

One-Tap Capture, On-Site Sharing, and Standardized Reports

Inspection is not only about finding a problem. Teams also need to record, share, and follow up on what they find.

SonoCam Pocket supports photos, videos, audio, and data files, with 32 GB of built-in storage. Through Wi-Fi or USB-C, users can export field results to a phone or computer for review, organization, and report generation.

This turns inspection results from verbal judgment into evidence that can be reviewed, shared, and used to support a complete maintenance loop.

    Model Guide: CRY8024 and CRY8025

The CRY8020 Series SonoCam Pocket Acoustic Camera includes two models: CRY8024 and CRY8025. Both models are built on the same core hardware platform, including a 64 MEMS microphone array, 2 kHz-65 kHz frequency range, 5MP autofocus camera, 4.3-inch touch screen, 32 GB storage, USB-C + WLAN hotspot connection, and IP54 portable protection design.

In basic inspection capability, both CRY8024 and CRY8025 support basic leak detection, basic partial discharge detection/localization, and quick mobile reporting. In other words, both models can complete the essential field tasks of SonoCam Pocket: finding abnormal sound sources, locating problem areas, saving visual evidence, and sharing results quickly with teams or customers.

The main difference is how far the inspection result can be processed after capture. CRY8024 is built for Quick Locate + Quick Reporting, focusing on fast field localization, photo/video evidence, and quick reporting on mobile devices. It is well suited for frequent use in daily walkdowns, field troubleshooting, and basic documentation.

CRY8025 is built for Analysis and Judgment + Formal Delivery. Beyond the basic inspection capabilities, it adds leakage assessment, PC software analysis, and professional report output, allowing field data to be further evaluated, archived, communicated, and delivered for more formal inspection tasks.
