CRY2624M Ex Fixed Acoustic Imager Official Launch

As industrial facilities continue to face increasing safety challenges in hazardous areas, continuous and reliable monitoring has become essential for preventing leaks, equipment failures, and potential safety risks.

CRYSOUND is proud to announce the official launch of the new CRY2624M Ex Fixed Acoustic Imager, a next-generation solution designed for continuous acoustic monitoring in hazardous industrial environments, including petrochemical plants, coal chemical facilities, LNG/CNG facilities, and natural gas stations.

This article explores how CRY2624M combines TÜV-Certified ATEX & IECEx explosion protection, gas leak detection, partial discharge monitoring, and remote system integration capabilities to help industries achieve safer and smarter operations.

    Why Choose CRY2624M

ATEX + IECEx Dual Certification for Hazardous Areas

Hazardous industrial environments require monitoring solutions that can operate safely under strict explosion protection standards.

CRY2624M Ex is certified with both ATEX and IECEx explosion protection, supporting applications within the scope of its Ex marking and instructions, including petrochemical facilities, coal chemical plants, natural gas infrastructure, and other hazardous environments.

Fast Leak Detection with Precise Localization

Once reliable operation in hazardous areas is ensured, the next challenge is identifying potential risks quickly and accurately.

Using advanced acoustic imaging technology, CRY2624M Ex captures ultrasonic signals generated by gas leaks with a response time of less than 10 seconds.

Combined with a 128-channel MEMS microphone array and an 8-megapixel camera, the system provides visualized sound source information and accurate leak localization, helping operators identify risks earlier and improve maintenance efficiency.

Multi-Function Monitoring Beyond Gas Leak Detection

Beyond gas leak detection, industrial facilities also face challenges related to partial discharge monitoring, especially in high-voltage equipment where insulation failures may lead to serious operational risks.

In addition to gas and vacuum leak detection, CRY2624M Ex supports partial discharge (PD) localization and type recognition. This capability helps users evaluate high-voltage equipment insulation conditions and identify potential electrical risks before failures occur.

    24/7 Continuous Monitoring

With fixed installation, CRY2624M Ex enables continuous monitoring of critical equipment areas, reducing inspection gaps and improving operational safety. Unlike traditional periodic inspections, the system continuously observes high-risk areas and provides real-time acoustic information, helping operators detect abnormal conditions at an earlier stage.

By maintaining long-term monitoring coverage of leak-prone components such as pipelines, valves, flanges, and other critical assets, CRY2624M Ex helps reduce reliance on manual inspections, improve response efficiency, and support more proactive safety management in hazardous industrial environments.

Remote Monitoring and Flexible System Integration

CRY2624M Ex is designed not only as a standalone inspection device but also as part of an industrial monitoring system.Through its web-based platform, users can access live monitoring and remote assessment through local networks.

The system supports flexible integration with industrial monitoring platforms through multiple communication and streaming interfaces, including RESTful, WebSocket, RPC, RTSP, RTMP, and WebRTC protocols. These capabilities enable seamless data transmission, remote monitoring, and integration with industrial monitoring platforms, robotic dogs, and wheeled robots for expanded inspection applications.

Application Cases: From Periodic Inspection to Continuous Monitoring

Based on these advanced monitoring capabilities, CRY2624M Ex has been deployed across various industrial scenarios where continuous monitoring is essential for improving operational safety.

    01 | Coal-to-Chemicals

    Challenge

Coal chemical production involves high-risk units such as gasifiers and synthesis towers. Multiple potential leakage points, including pipelines, valve flanges, and process connections, require continuous monitoring to prevent safety incidents.

Case Study: Gasifier Syngas Leak Monitoring Project at a Coal Chemical Plant

To improve safety monitoring in these high-risk areas, a coal chemical plant deployed multiple CRY2624M Ex acoustic imaging systems around the gasifier area to continuously monitor critical equipment and pipeline connections affected by gas and pulverized-coal leakage risks.

The system continuously monitors vulnerable locations across the gasifier area, including pulverized-coal pipelines, valve flanges, CO pipelines, and other critical pipeline connections. By providing continuous coverage of these leak-prone points, CRY2624M Ex helps operators identify abnormal leak signals earlier and improve the efficiency of safety monitoring.

The deployment provides 24/7 continuous, full-coverage monitoring, helping operators identify abnormal leak signals earlier.

    02 | Petrochemical Industry

    Challenge

Petrochemical plants involve flammable and toxic substances such as hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen, and benzene vapor. Leak prevention in critical equipment areas is a long-term challenge.

Case Study: Hydrogen Compressor Monitoring Project at a Petrochemical Plant

To enhance safety management around hydrogen compression systems, a petrochemical plant installed CRY2624M Ex acoustic imaging units to provide continuous monitoring of potential leakage points.

Mounted on explosion-proof pan-tilt units (PTZ), the system enables flexible monitoring across multiple critical components, including pipeline bodies, valves, flanges, and other leak-prone areas around hydrogen compression systems. This configuration allows continuous, unmanned monitoring of key equipment and helps operators quickly identify potential hydrogen leakage risks and improve operational safety.

03 | LNG/CNG Tank Truck Loading & Hazardous Chemical Yards

    Challenge

During hazardous chemical transportation, leakage may occur during loading, unloading, storage, or parking.Fast inspection of incoming vehicles while reducing close-contact inspection requirements is a key challenge.

Case Study: Incoming Vehicle Leak Inspection at a Hazardous Chemical Yard in Shanghai

To improve inspection efficiency and reduce manual contact with hazardous vehicles, a port company in Shanghai implemented an acoustic imaging solution at its hazardous chemical vehicle entrance.

Combined with a vehicle snapshot system, the solution automatically captures vehicle information while the acoustic imaging system scans incoming vehicles from multiple directions. By detecting weak gas leak sounds and pinpointing potential leak sources, the system helps improve inspection efficiency and enhance safety management at hazardous chemical vehicle entrances.

    04 | Natural Gas Stations

    Challenge

Natural gas facilities contain extensive pipelines, valves, and joints that require reliable monitoring under changing outdoor conditions.

Case Study: Leak Monitoring at a Natural Gas Gate Station in Tianjin

To achieve reliable long-term monitoring under complex outdoor conditions, a natural gas gate station in Tianjin deployed CRY2624M Ex for continuous monitoring of critical pipeline components and leak-prone areas.

The system provides 24/7 continuous monitoring with comprehensive coverage of leak-prone areas, including pipeline joints, valves, and other critical components across the natural gas station. This enables operators to identify abnormal conditions more efficiently and support faster maintenance decisions.
