Product Highlights
Built for the Harshest Environments
Most measurement microphones are used in clean, controlled laboratory environments, but the CRY3213 is purpose-built for real-world NVH testing, where high temperatures, oil mist, vibration, airflow, dust, gravel, and rain may all be present at once. It operates reliably in extreme heat above 120°C, remains stable during cold-weather road tests at –50°C, and is equally well suited to outdoor test programs that run continuously for days in changing weather conditions.
This rugged, application-focused design enables dependable data capture in environments where conventional microphones are more likely to drift, degrade, or even fail.
IP67 Protection Throughout the Measurement Chain
For the CRY3213, IP67 is more than a rating—it is the foundation of reliable field measurement. With a sealed, dust-tight, and waterproof design, the microphone can withstand immersion in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It is built for demanding applications such as engine-bay, chassis, and road testing, where water, dust, oil mist, and debris are common.
The CRY3213 is sealed at key structural points to improve reliability across the measurement chain. When paired with cables of the same protection level, it offers stronger environmental adaptability for exterior vehicle testing.
It also features a redundant dual pressure-equalization vent design. If one vent is blocked by dust or contaminants, the other can continue to function, helping maintain stable performance in complex test environments.
Reliable Operation from –50°C to +125°C
In NVH testing, temperature is a major source of measurement drift, and conventional microphones used in high-temperature environments may suffer from sensitivity loss or even failure.
The CRY3213 delivers reliable operation across a wide temperature range of –50°C to +125°C. It is well suited to demanding applications such as engine bench testing, exhaust noise measurement, and turbocharger acoustic testing, without requiring additional cooling or thermal insulation.
It also maintains stable calibrated sensitivity in low-temperature and rapid temperature-change conditions, making it suitable for environmental chamber testing, winter road testing, and thermal shock applications.
Wide Dynamic Range from 17 dB to 136 dB
Real-world NVH testing spans both quiet in-cabin conditions and high sound pressure levels generated by the powertrain. With a dynamic range of 17 dB to 136 dB, the CRY3213 supports measurements across a wide range of NVH test scenarios.
This allows engineers to use the same microphone across more test points and test phases, helping improve data consistency when switching between interior and exterior measurements or when capturing both low-level detail and high-level transient events.
Replaceable Protective Cap for Easier Maintenance
In demanding test environments, protective parts are often the first to wear or deform. The CRY3213 uses a high-strength titanium alloy protective cap to improve resistance to impact and mechanical damage.
Its replaceable design makes it easier to restore the microphone to working condition after contamination or deformation, reducing maintenance time and avoiding unnecessary replacement of the entire unit.
Power Status Indicator
The CRY3213 NVH measurement microphone is equipped with a power indicator, allowing test engineers to quickly confirm the microphone's operating status during deployment. In complex test scenarios, the indicator makes it easier to verify whether the device is functioning properly, reducing time spent troubleshooting cables or repeating setup because an abnormal device status went unnoticed. This design helps shorten deployment time and improve overall test efficiency.
Wide Frequency Response from 3.15 Hz to 20 kHz
With a flat frequency response from 3.15 Hz to 20 kHz, the CRY3213 captures both low-frequency vehicle resonance and high-frequency noise with accuracy. It covers the low-frequency range needed for structural and powertrain-related NVH analysis, as well as the 20 Hz to 20 kHz band relevant to human hearing.
This wide response supports full-vehicle NVH testing, comparative analysis, and high-fidelity signal acquisition in both R&D validation and quality control.
Stable Omnidirectional Response
The CRY3213 maintains a near-omnidirectional response in the low- and mid-frequency ranges, helping deliver consistent results across different angles of incidence. In the high-frequency range, it retains stable on-axis sensitivity, reducing the influence of microphone orientation on measurement results.
This makes it well suited to complex field environments such as engine compartments, road surfaces, and other reflective test conditions where repeatable data is critical.
Broad Compatibility for Easier Integration
The CRY3213 is designed for easy integration into existing NVH test setups, helping reduce adaptation effort and overall ownership cost.
• Calibration Compatibility: With the included adapter, it can be used with 1-inch acoustic calibrators.
• Protective Cap Compatibility: It is compatible with protective caps used on standard 13.2 mm measurement microphones and supports common calibration and test methods after the cap is removed.
• Dimensional Compatibility: The 12.7 mm preamplifier fits standard 1/2-inch microphone clamps and mounting fixtures.
• Interface Compatibility: It uses a BNC connector and a 2–20 mA IEPE constant-current supply, also referred to as CCP, ICP, or CCLD.
• TEDS Compatibility: In TEDS-compatible front ends and DAQ systems, microphone data and key parameters can be identified automatically, reducing manual setup and channel-mapping errors.
10-Year Warranty for Long-Term Confidence
The CRY3213 is backed by a 10-year limited warranty from CRYSOUND, providing added confidence for long-term use. For details, please refer to the warranty terms and service policy.
To maintain measurement accuracy, CRYSOUND recommends annual calibration, with additional calibration after testing in extreme environments.
